['bæȖk əv 'təʊkjəʊ 'lɪmɪtɪd, englisch], japanische Großbank, die insbesondere auf die Bereiche internationaler Handel und internationale Investitionen spezialisiert ist; Sitz: Tokio; gegründet 1946; verfügt über ein weltweites Netz von Filialen und Vertretungen sowie mehr als 40 ausländische Tochtergesellschaften; spielt traditionell eine wichtige Rolle bei staatlichen Finanztransaktionen und ist seit 1955 als beauftragte Bank für fast alle Regierungen und staatlichen Institutionen in Asien, Afrika, Lateinamerika, im Mittleren und Nahen Osten sowie in Europa tätig. 1996 erfolgte die Fusion mit der Mitsubishi Bank zur Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Limited.
